SCAM?

A friend bought some of them with his friend last 2 week, he wanted to sell these devices, because of price and capacity. He bought them at less than RM 150. It is really a good deal.
I checked on Sony sites, and I can’t found the exact model, and in my research I found the 411 me Blog with the complete history.

I look the photos and found the devices I was checking. And the worst is that, as the article note, a trojan was installed on the PCs where I checked the pendrives.

The fraudsters are using the image of Sony, and the worst is that the scam product is still being sold.

THE TROJAN
the drive are reportedly preloaded with some sort of Trojan that acts to fool the Operating System into thinking the capacity is something other than the actual size. Some reports that the consumer can plug the drive into a USB port and see that Windows for example is reporting the advertised storage space. In my case, no information was shown, it seems that the trojan has a hard time with last service pack of Windows XP.

The drive works fine until you try to write a file larger than the actual capacity. The copy process is going well and will finish, but anything beyond the memory available will just be bogus. In my case, I wrote in two of the flash drives, and I was able to store a file of size < 128 Mb. Later I added another file, in another sub directory that become filled with 256 files, with an strange name, of 16 Kb each.
