Guide to setting up a WoW(Singleplayer) server.

Author: ejai | Filed under: howto, life

This is a guide for all of you noobs out there who are complaining that you can’t set up a server for yourself. Well this is the place to come. This is a guide for the most recent WoWemu release, v.4735.1.9.

Feel free to post any questions here

Step 1) Download the latest version of WoWemu here(blackstorm version)
also get the osiris patch here http://rapidshare.de/files/16193686/…SiRiS.rar.html

Step 2) UnRar the folder to an easy to access directory.

Step 3) Set up the server
ok this is the hard part. Start off by running the WoWemu.v0.4735.1.9.Patch.by.0SiRiS.exe file. make sure the “make backup” box is checked. This creates the wowemu.key and wowemu.exe.BAK files.

Now we need to find our ip adress to enter into wowemu.key. to do this first go to the start menu, click run and type cmd.

Type in “ipconfig” . this will give you your ip address (marked with a red arrow).

Now right-click on the wowemu.key file and open it with notepad (if notepad isnt a choice select choose program). The things you should edit are the ip address and the server name.

The line i marked with an arrow will have your ip address in it.

Step 4) Set up your account

To set up your account run the wowemu.exe file (or TrayWoWemu if you want it in the tray) and go to this site : http://(your ip address):8080/ and you should be at the account sign up page.

Step 5) Set Up the Map

I saved this for now because it is not required, but it is useful. To set up the discovery of maps in-game first go to the eumlator folder, then go to the maps folder. You should see a batch file called map_extract. Right-click and select edit. Change the path to where you installed WoW if you need to.

I changed C:\ to D:\ because i installed WoW on my D drive. (Make sure the dir ends with World of Warcraft\Data ) If you don’t understand what im doing by changing that directory then you probably don’t understand half of this tutorial. Now run the batch and sit back for 10 minutes or so as it extracts all of the map files.

Step 6) Changing your account to a GM account
After setting up your account, with the WoWemu still running open the DButil.exe file and select Edit Accounts. Type in your account name and your account info should come up (your username and pass will be all caps). Set the value of plevel to 6. You are now a GM.

Part 2: Setting Up a Server Over the Internet

1) Upload all of your files to your server
2) In the wowemu.key file you set the ip to your server’s ip adress
3) You tell your friends to set the realmlist file to your server’s ip
4) Add the server to your hosts file
5) to setup accounts type in the servers ip:8080

  1. i tried this but i got a message saying i had wrong version. What version is this guide for?

  2. srry nvm i found it

  3. so what version was it now that you have found it.. care to enlighten the rest of us?

  4. ok..so i did this…and

    it would just disconnect me

but then i thought it must be my firewall

so i turned off my firewall

and now it says unable to validate game version and directs me to the blizzard website when i try to log on

  5. I’d like to note that while this site is years old, people still find it. The Patch by Osiris is long gone and it seems that it’s impossible to follow this without it. It’s also pretty much non-existant on the web and I have googled every term I could think of in order to find the Patch. It simply isn’t out there anymore… Could you reload the file or tell us where we can still find the Patch to be able to start using our Private Server?
